Looking forward into 2013

2013 is upon us. With little over 12 hours to go,  2012 is just about over, but instead of looking back on all the good things (or bad) that happened this past year, I figured it would be fun to look into the future.

Perhaps the biggest thing I’m looking forward to next year is the release of the movie Hal by Production IG. Set to premier in June of 2013, it tells the tale of Kurumi, a girl who recently lost the love of her life in a plane accident. As a result, andriod Q01, or robot Hal, is sent to help her cope with the loss. But what happens when her opinion of this robot version of her boyfriend begins to change?

With Production IG, character designer Sakisaka Io (Ao Haru Ride) and Michiru Oshima as the composer, I can at least be sure that it will be beautiful animated and composed, though that doesn’t mean that I’m not looking forward to the story as well. There’s just too little of it to really get an impression of it. The only bad thing is that I probably won’t get to watch this until sometime late next year.

Some other things that I’m looking forward to next year is the second season of Chihayafuru (someone must have heard my prayers), along with the ending of Oyasumi Punpun. We’ve also got a cute new Kyoani show premiering in January that has caught my attention. Yup , looks like 2013 is going to be a good year.
